The Schedule for the Concord Iași Open – Powered by MET Has Been Announced. Day and Evening Sessions Confirmed. Which Romanian Players Received Wild Cards and When the Finals Will Take Place
The Ciric Sports Base in Iași will host two major international tennis tournaments between July 5–19. The 7th edition of the ATP Challenger 100 Concord Iași Open – Powered by MET will take place from July 5–12, followed by the 5th edition of the WTA 250 UniCredit Iași Open from July 12–19.
Day and Evening Sessions
The organizers of the Concord Iași Open – Powered by MET, an ATP Challenger 100 event now in its seventh edition, have announced the official competition schedule for the tournament, which will be held at the Ciric Sports Base from July 5–12.
Qualifying matches will begin on Sunday, July 5, at 1:30 PM, with 12 matches across three courts. On Monday, July 6, the six final qualifying matches will be played during the day session, starting at 1:30 PM, followed by the opening main draw matches in the evening session, beginning not before 6:00 PM.
Matches will be played daily in two sessions. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, the day session will begin at 1:30 PM, while on Wednesday it will start at 12:30 PM. Evening sessions will begin not before 6:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and not before 5:30 PM on Wednesday.
On Saturday, July 11, the two singles semifinals are scheduled for 4:00 PM and not before 6:00 PM. The finals will be played on Sunday, July 12, with the doubles final starting at 5:00 PM and the singles final not before 7:00 PM.
The tournament is organized by the Iași Open Sports Club Association, in partnership with Concord Service Center and the Iași City Hall. Andrei Oriță, Director of Concord Service Center, is the tournament license holder, while former World No. 13 Andrei Pavel serves as Tournament Director.
Top ATP Players Expected in Iași
The entry list for the men's tournament is now complete, with the current top three seeds being Valentin Royer of France, ranked World No. 75, Croatia's Dino Prizmic, ranked World No. 82, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's Damir Dzumhur, ranked World No. 105.
In May, the 20-year-old Dino Prizmic produced one of the biggest upsets of the ATP season by defeating Novak Djokovic in the second round of the Rome Masters, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Frenchman Titouan Droguet, currently World No. 112 and last year's finalist, will be seeded fourth, while defending champion Elmer Moller of Denmark, ranked World No. 151 and seeded eighth, also returns to Iași.
Among the Romanian players, Cezar Crețu, ranked World No. 272, and Radu Mihai Papoe, ranked World No. 358, have already secured places in the main draw after receiving wild cards.
The organizers have also reserved one additional wild card, which will be awarded before the start of the main draw.
The main draw ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 5, at 7:00 PM, at the Ciric Sports Base.
The tournament offers a total prize fund of €160,680.
Qualifying Wild Card Awarded to the Pre-Qualifying Tournament Winner
As part of this year's event, the Concord Iași Open – Powered by MET also organized a pre-qualifying tournament exclusively for players under the age of 21. The competition was held at the Ciric Sports Base, with a wild card into the qualifying draw at stake.
Tournament Director Andrei Pavel was present throughout the event, supporting the young competitors.
Matei Partal won the pre-qualifying tournament and earned the qualifying wild card. Luca Frunză finished runner-up, while Matei Vârbanciu placed third.
Final Results of the Pre-Qualifying Tournament
- Matei Partal defeated Luca Frunză: 7-5, 6-4
- Luca Frunză defeated Matei Vârbanciu: 6-7, 6-0, 10-3
As a result, Luca Frunză will be the first alternate in case of a withdrawal, while Matei Vârbanciu will serve as the second alternate for the qualifying wild card.
