On Wednesday, the first four matches of the round of 16 were played on the singles table at the BCR Iași Open, but also a last match counting for the first round.
In this last match, Ana Bogdan, favorite no. 3 in Iași, she decisively defeated Oana Simion 6-0, 6-2, debutant on a WTA table, beneficiary of a wild-card, qualifying for the round of 16. In this second phase, Ana (75th WTA) will meet Anastasia Zakharova, world number 163.
In the first round of 16 match, Darya Astakhova (256th WTA) defeated Cristina Dinu, world number 313, score 6-2, 6-2. Astakhova already has four wins without losing a set in Iasi, two in the qualifiers and two in the main draw, three of them against Romanians (Ștefana Lazăr, Irina Bara and Cristina Dinu).
Also on Wednesday, players Panna Udvardy (Hungary), Rebeka Masarova (Spain) and Poland's Maja Chwalinska qualified for the quarterfinals.
Panna Udvardy, WTA 93rd place, second favorite in Iași, won the Hungarian round of 16 duel with Reka Luca Jani, world number 135, score 6-0, 7-6 (6) and qualified for the quarter-finals at the BCR Iași Open .
Poland's Maja Chwalinska, ranked 160th in the WTA, made it to the round of 16 as favorite no. 4 Olga Danilovic, from Serbia, world number 115, score 7-6 (4), 6-4.
For her part, Rebeka Masarova (Spain, 156th WTA) defeated German player Nastasja Schunk, world number 146, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
In the doubles competition, Andreea Roșca and her partner Darya Astakhova qualified for the quarters, while the Romanian pairs Camelia Hristea/Ștefana Lazăr and Briana Szabo/Lavinia Tănăsie stopped in the eighths.
