Press Release – Iași Open 2026
Press Release – Iași Open 2026
We would like to thank you for being with us once again this year, despite the challenging weather conditions that forced us, on several occasions, to reschedule matches of great interest to our spectators.
Both the Concord Iași Open ATP Challenger 100 and the UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250 have become an important part of Iași for the past seven and five years, respectively. Throughout this journey, our goal has always been to raise the standard of the tournaments for everyone who joins us at the Ciric Sports Complex during these two exciting weeks of tennis.
Over the years, we have welcomed some of the world's most accomplished players, both in the official competition and in exhibition matches. Simona Halep, Mirra Andreeva, Stan Wawrinka, Paula Badosa, Sorana Cîrstea, Alexandra Dulgheru, Raluca Olaru, Irina-Camelia Begu, Gabriela Ruse, Jaqueline Cristian and Ana Bogdan are just a few of the names who have competed on the clay courts of Iași.
This year, we expanded the Fan Zone, where our partners and sponsors organized activities for fans of all ages. A giant screen broadcast not only matches from Wimbledon and the Iași Open, but also FIFA World Cup games for football enthusiasts.
Our fan engagement activities also extended beyond the Ciric Sports Complex, giving children the opportunity to enjoy mini tennis and win prizes at Mall Moldova, Palas Mall and Copou Park.
As we look forward to welcoming even more spectators in the years to come and continuing to share world-class tennis with you, we carefully read every message and every piece of feedback received through social media and the press. Please know that every opinion matters to us and is taken into consideration.
Many of your messages referred to the rescheduling of matches, particularly the singles final. We would therefore like to clarify that every scheduling decision was made after carefully consulting the weather forecast for Iași International Airport, the closest official weather reference point to the Ciric Sports Complex.
On Sunday, the forecast indicated only one hour of rain, making it possible for the final to be played under suitable conditions. As the match was also scheduled to be broadcast in more than 110 countries, the original schedule was maintained.
Unfortunately, as the day progressed, the weather forecast changed significantly, leaving us with a decision that none of us wanted to make: postponing the final until Monday.
Rescheduling the UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250 final to Monday created major logistical challenges and significant additional costs, including arranging a charter flight to ensure that the finalists could travel on time to their next tournament.
These financial and operational efforts were undertaken solely out of respect for our spectators and our commitment to providing the finalists with the best possible playing conditions and the highest professional standards.
The tournament was promoted through the official platforms of both events, as well as media partnerships with GSP, Kiss FM and Digi Sport. Local promotion included nine horizontal banners, twenty vertical street banners, advertising at Iași International Airport, Mall Moldova, Palas Mall and the WINK digital network, together with promotion on iaBilet.ro and Entertix.ro.
We remain active across all social media platforms because we want to stay connected with you and make you feel part of the Iași Open family. Without your support from the stands, the atmosphere that inspires players to deliver their very best simply would not exist.
To our colleagues in the print, online, radio and television media, thank you for choosing to be with us once again this year and for providing honest and constructive feedback.
You are an essential part of the Iași Open community, and for this reason we will be implementing improvements within our media operations to ensure an even more efficient and enjoyable experience for all media representatives at future editions.
If you have any further questions or require additional information, please contact us at press@iasiopen.com.
Thank you.
