Six players from Romania on the main draw at the UniCredit Iași Open. Russian Mirra Andreeva, the main favorite, and Jaqueline Cristian is third on the seed list
On Saturday at noon, the main draw of the WTA 250 UniCredit Iași Open tournament was drawn, a contest with total prizes of 232,244 euros and 250 WTA points. The main favorite in Iasi is the young Russian Mirra Andreeva, only 17 years old, 31st WTA, the youngest player in the Top 100, semi-finalist at Roland Garros this year.

In the main draw, 3 players from Romania are directly accepted, Jaqueline Cristian (66th WTA place, favorite 3), Anca Todoni (118 WTA) and Irina Begu (138), and three other representatives of our country, Elena Gabriela Ruse (149 WTA) , Miriam Bulgaru (206 WTA) and Irina Bara (223 WTA), received a wild card.
Jaqueline Cristian, Anca Todoni and Irina Begu will meet players from the qualifiers in the first round, while Irina Bara will play the Iberian Marina Bassols Ribera, world number 121.
Gabi Ruse will meet the Russian Anastasia Tikhonova, world number 194, in the first round in Iasi, and Miriam Bulgaru will have the most difficult task among the Romanians, our player will face the German Tatjana Maria, world number 61 and favorite 2.
The main favorite in Iași is Mirra Andreeva, 17 years old, 31st place WTA, the young player from Russia who will play in the first round with Noma Noha Akugue, from Germany.

"It's very pleasant, I really like playing at home and I couldn't wait for this tournament. I really like the tournament, I can't wait to start the competition. It won't be an easy match in the first round, even if I meet a girl from the qualifiers. I aim to keep my level, focus on myself, enjoy the audience and all the positive energy. I never set myself a ranking or tournament goal, but to focus on my tennis and enjoy this period as much as possible. The Wimbledon victory charged me with a lot of positive energy. I enjoyed that experience and gave everything I could", said Anca Todoni.
