With 6-3, 7-6 (3) Vlad Andrei Dancu won in front of a Frenchman, Matteo Martineau, third seeded, while Dan Alexandru Tomescu was a little more drastic in the successful victory against another Frenchman, Matthieu Perchicot, the favorite no. 8 of the qualification tournament in Iași.
Matei Cristian Onofrei, one of the three Romanians who received Wild-Card in the qualifiers, stopped in the first round, being defeated by the Colombian Alejandro Gonzalez with 6-0, 6-1. Tough match for Alexandru Coman as well, in front of a very experienced player, Uladzimir Ignatik, from Belarus, who won 6-1, 6-3, while Alexandru Jecan lost, 4-6, 0-6, the match with Czech David Poljak.

But even if they lost in the qualifications, Alex Coman and Alexandru Jecan do not leave Iași, because they will play in the doubles tournament.
Thus, no less than ten Romanians are registered in the doubles event, and we have five one hundred percent Romanian pairs. Alex Coman and Vlad Dancu, club colleagues at CS Dinamo Bucharest, will play together in Iasi, then we have Nicholas David Ionel and Ștefan Paloși, Cezar Cretu and Dan Tomescu, Marius and Alexandru Jecan and, last but not least, Victor Vlad Cornea and Filip Cristian Jianu.
