Mirra Andreeva and Elina Avanesyan will play the finals of the UniCredit Iasi Open tournament

Elina Avanesyan won two matches in a span of seven hours

Jaqueline Cristian stopped in the quarters at the UniCredit Iași Open
Jaqueline Cristian, the 3rd favorite of the Iasi tournament, stopped in the quarterfinals, being defeated by Elina Avanesyan, the 5th favorite, score 7-5, 6-4.
Kicked off on Wednesday night, the match was stopped after 14 minutes due to rain and resumed on Thursday morning with Avanesyan leading 2-0 in the first act.
Avanesyan started better on Thursday as well, trailing at 4-1, serving for 5-1, but Jaqueline, wildly supported by the crowd, managed to come back and level at five. Avanesyan eventually got the break and closed out the set 7-5.
The second set started with a break by Elina, Jaqueline came back and equalized, but at 1-2 she lost her serve again.
Avanesyan went two games ahead to 5-3 as the longest and most dramatic game of the tournament played out. Jaqueline canceled five of her opponent's match points, then saved the fifth game point to close at 4-5. But the last game of the set and the match followed, Avanesyan managing to close out the match with the sixth ball he benefited from, 7-5, 6-4.
Jaqueline thus remains with the two consecutive quarters, in Palermo and Iasi, and in a few days she will debut at the Olympic Games in Paris, where she will meet Elena Rîbakina, from Kazakhstan, world number 4 and favorite 3 at the Olympic tournament.
Irina Bara and Anca Todoni, eliminated in the doubles semifinals
Also on Thursday, the semifinals of the doubles event were also contested. The Irina Bara / Anca Todoni double was eliminated in the penultimate act by the 2 favorite pair of Alexandra Panova and Yana Sizikova, 4-6, 4-6.
