Iași will once again host the UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250 this coming July!
UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250, the most important women's clay-court tournament in Central and Eastern Europe, will take place from July 14 to 20, 2025 at its traditional venue – Baza Ciric. The tournament recently took over a WTA 250 license for the next three years, consolidating its position on the international competitive calendar.
Strategically scheduled in the first week after Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the year, UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250 offers players, especially those from Romania and the wider Central and Eastern Europe region, the opportunity to play in a WTA 250 tournament before the start of the North American hard court season.
“Since 2020, Iași has appeared on the European and world tennis map. Organizing ATP Challenger 100 and WTA 125 tournaments in the same location is something that few cities manage. After two superb editions of WTA 125, the move to the WTA 250 category was natural, but unexpected for last year, the UniCredit Iași Open 2024 edition appearing as a result of the relocation of the tournament from Hamburg. UniCredit Iași Open 2025 will be special, with a WTA 250 license for the next few years, thus guaranteeing stability and building, together with the City Hall of Iași, the partners and tennis lovers from the city, an attractive and solid event, addressed to Romanian athletes and offered to the whole world to watch. The most important WTA clay court tournament in Romania and the entire region has set itself the goal of promoting Romanian tennis in this year's edition, but also to offer tennis lovers a complete experience, thus contributing to promoting Iași as a top tourist destination.

The vision for Iași's tennis tournaments sparked from years of watching Simona Halep's captivating WTA performances. Bringing her to Baza Sportiva Ciric became a long-held ambition. Thus, at the end of the first week of tennis in Iași, before the start of the UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250 tournament, Simona Halep will perform in an exceptional exhibition match, alongside Andrei Pavel and other surprise guests.

15 days of non-stop tennis at Baza Sportiva Ciric
July will transform Baza Sportivă Ciric into a reference center for tennis lovers, making the Iași Open an emblematic sports event for the city and beyond. Between July 6 and 20, Iași will host tennis matches by organizing two major tournaments, the Concord Iași Open powered by MET (July 6–13) and the UniCredit Iași Open WTA 250 (July 14–20). It is a remarkable achievement and will certainly have a significant impact on the city, through the development of sports infrastructure and local tourism.
