On Sunday, the qualifications for the Concord Iași Open, an ATP Challenger 100 category tournament, began. On the first day of the qualifications, 12 matches were played, in which 15 Romanian players were engaged, four meetings being one hundred percent Romanian.
Among the 15 representatives of our country, five have access to the decisive round of the qualifications, these being Alexandru Mateo Berge Nourescu, Dan Alexandru Tomescu, Vlad Andrei Dancu, Sebastian Gima and Radu Mihai Papoe.
They will play on Monday, in the 2nd round, with the stake being access to the main draw. Alejandro Mateo Berge Nourescu and Sebastian Gima will face off from 10.30 a.m., on court 5, with the winner going to join the other 4 Romanians on the main draw (Cezar Crețu, Nicholas David Ionel, Filip Jianu and Gabi Boitan).
On Monday, July 8, nine matches are scheduled at the Concord Iași Open, starting at 10:30 a.m. Six are from the decisive round of the qualifications, and the other three, all scheduled on the Central Court, not before 14.30, will count for the first round of singles.
In the last match of the day on "Central", Cezar Crețu from Iși, 376th ATP place, holder of a wild card, will face the 4th favorite, the Argentinian Roman Andres Burruchaga, world number 142.
